Faith of a Foodie

This morning at church we were ministered to by the Target Dayton Choir. Target Dayton is a ministry that provides the homeless with meals, church services, and so much more. It really is amazing to see how the lives of the people have been changed. They have seen and been through things in life that seem unfathomable to most.

I was trying to think of one thing that impacted me the most. It was pretty hard to narrow it down, but I think it was their true joy! When the world looks at a homeless person, they may not see much to be happy about. We equate happiness so often with material things. The thing is…these people do have everything. They have Jesus Christ as their Savior, and they are rich in Him.

What a wake up call that was for me... I have so much to be joyful over. It is not about serving God when things are going good. We need to serve God for who He is, not for what He can do for us. This choir showed that they have learned that TRUE happiness can only be found in Him. The Holy Spirit has filled this choir with such joy, that you can’t listen to them without feeling the presence of the Lord.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
