Lazy Granola

I just love granola! My favorite way to eat it is on yogurt. Hello... McDonald's fruit and yogurt parfait, anyone?

Homemade granola used to make regular appearances in my home, then I started the whole "cutting back" thing. It seemed that most of the recipes I came across had a bunch of expensive ingredients in them.

I came across this recipe on Amy's Finer Things recently, and tried it that very night. I was smitten by the fact that it uses every day ingredients, so it is very frugal. Oh, and I like to be lazy every now and then, so this is right up my alley.

This is so simple to make...you really need to try this!

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoon vanilla
7 cups oats (I used Old fashioned, not quick cooking)

1.Mix brown sugar, oil, and honey in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil.
2.Remove from heat and stir in cinnamon and vanilla.
3.Pour over oats in a large bowl. Stir until well coated.
4.Spread oats in a 9x13 pan. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.
5.Take out and stir.
6.Return pan to oven. Turn oven off!
7.Go to bed. Wake up to a delicious, cinnamon-y scent wafting through the house.

Store in an air tight container!

sounds great. I love it over yogurt as well....or ice cream. ;-) And I especially love that it's "lazy" granola.

Okay, so this was a HUGE hit in the Oldfield household! I saw little hands sneaking as I tried to put it all away. :)

Not to mention the smell was WONDERFUL!!!

Misty,

Glad you all liked it. It sure beats buying a box of granola...it can get expensive!
