Today is a surprising and special day here! Mr. Cutting Back, Daniel, my husband...is doing a guest post! I received strict instructions that nothing was to be changed on my part. So, as hard as it was...I left it as is...even though it makes me look like a total freak!!

Well, it’s taken a year and a few days for it to finally come to this.
The keys to The Cutting Back Kitchen have been given to yours truly for a guest post.
Normally I toil away behind the scenes, acting as Head of Quality Control for all the wonderful recipes that grace The Cutting Back Kitchen…but today…I run the show.
So Katie asked me an interesting question, “how has your life changed or what have you learned since I started couponing and blogging?”
Here are some of the highlights…
-We are Christians, and not ashamed of that, so in our house one thing has always happened before we eat, we pray. But now, two things happen…we pray and then take a picture of our food…
-My vocabulary has greatly expanded. Basically, I have learned that you can take any word and replace the first half of the word with “blog” and you have a new word! Thus I now know about the blogosphere and blogiversaries, but for some reason I get funny looks when I say things are blog-tastic, or blog-errific…I’m so blog-fused.
-Coupons are currency. Very valuable currency. I often say that some episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond hit a little too close to home. Have you seen the one where Frank yells at Ray for stealing his coupons? Yeah, that’s how valuable they are! (not sure it’s very blog-erful of me to compare Katie to Frank Barone?)
-Speaking of currency, I’m a CPA, so traditionally I think that people, businesses, stocks and other investments have the ability to make money. Imagine my surprise when I found out that products like PreparationH wipes can be money makers too!
-We now have a stockpile, which we never have had before. It’s quite large, so large in fact that I think we’ve been designated as a fallout shelter in our community…
-Speaking of the stockpile, everything is painstakingly marked with the expiration date and put in order in our basement. What I didn’t know is that if I were to pick something out of order, well that’s just not allowed…
-I have found myself standing in the grocery store, all alone, looking for something that I have been sent to purchase, and there are multiple options. In that very moment, I have often wondered if the answer to “what would Jesus do?” is easier to determine than “what would Katie buy?”
-The last thing I have learned, that all cashiers should be aware of is that the words “I’m sorry, I can’t accept that coupon” are fighting words!
In all seriousness, there are too many positives to mention that have happened since Katie started on this journey of couponing and blogging. I’m so proud and impressed by what Katie has learned and accomplished in such a short period of time. Congrats to Cutting Back Kate for a great year, and I hope that there are many more to celebrate!

Oh my Heavens! I have never laughed so hard in my life! Mr. Cutting Backs comments are fabulous! It's kind of scary, but as I read the post every comment sounds a lot like what my hubby would say about me (so you are definitely not a freak...or maybe I am,too...oh,well we will just be freaks together!)
I needed a good laugh this morning... This post was so funny! You two are so cute...
OMGosh...I am laughing so hard!! This post does not make you sound like a freak. Ok, maybe to someone who does not use coupons but that would be about it. "Freaks" unite!! I find this post to be so very sweet actually. He notices!! Congrats to you both for having each other. Sounds like your a perfect fit!! Prayers & Pictures always before meals!!!!!!!!!!
Loved reading this! Not only do some of us get to enjoy this wonderful blogsite. But I have the
honor of being in Daniel's Sunday School class, with the beautiful
Kate! You think this blog is interesting? You should be in our
class on Sunday morning!
This is hilarious. My husband isn't even allowed to go to the grocery store anymore. I am going to have him read this post so he can commiserate.
This was my very first time visiting this blog and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this post. It was hilarious. I also LOVED the fact that you are Christians and proud of it:)
Tightwad Mom and Kimi,
I guess us freaks have to unite. We won't appear so strange if are all the same way. But, hey, I am proud to be a freak if it means I save a ton of money!!
Misty,
Thanks...glad you got a laugh. You know me well enough to know that every bit is true...and you still want to be my friend...
Kathy,
I don't think God made anyone sweeter than you. I agree, Daniel is a pretty good teacher...and it is pretty interesting.
Bitterroot Mama,
You so need your husband to read this...husbands of coupon/blog freaks can unite!! And we need to work on our husbands so they can be as good with coupons!
Stefanie,
Well, so glad you enjoyed this post! I hope you will come back...
Yes, we are Christians. I don't know how one could hide the fact if their life has been redeemed!
Oh my goodness--we pray and we take a picture--that's our house too! But I usually take the picture first, otherwise my 2 year old would be done with dinner before we pray. :)
This was the best! It's always great to have a mans perspective. Too cute and what a great way to share. You two are darling!
Jackie,
Ha Ha! Sometimes we reverse the order...but I can see why you have to take the pic first. Prayer means...dig in to a 2 yr old!
Kristin,
Yes, it is...men see things so different...don't they? Thanks!!!
Loved the guest post!!! LOVE the post-er!!! Daniel....you are hilarious!!!!
Hugs,
Cherie
