Packing the Pantry - Um, not really!

This week I wasn’t exactly packing the pantry, quite the contrary really. I shared with you last week how I would be refraining from going to the grocery as much as possible. I accomplished it, but not without an internal fight for chicken…I will explain later! I bought some lettuce, apples, bananas, and some zart bitter schokokeks that were on clearance. Maybe I shouldn’t have bought them, since they are a pantry item, BUT if you had ever tasted them you wouldn’t have left them either.

When we were in Germany, back in the fall, we bought some of these marvelous cookies our first night there. Yeah…they became a nightly ritual there. REWE was my favorite brand, and we travelled to every REWE store the GPS could find…we were addicted! I think we even brought back 12 boxes. Come on, they were small boxes, and they were mostly for gifts ; ) Um...if anyone ever visits Germany...please send me some!

My internal fight...I almost broke down and bought some chicken at Meijer, since it was on sale. Ugh…it took some major self discipline! When I thawed some out for our apple cider chicken, I realized that I only have 2 dinners worth left! So, that presents a whole new challenge for us this month. Chicken is like a crutch for me, a very comfortable crutch. We have plenty of beef, pork, and turkey…I need to get creative!

So, the total for this week was, are you ready… $7.77! I did it…and that means I have $32.23 towards my cow.

How did you do this week?

So, I didn't do as good as you... went a little over budget. Probably due to the beginning of the month and needed to "restock" things... I need more self discipline when it comes to sales... Actually I think I need more knowlege of when it is a "too good to pass up" sale and when I can go without... :)

There's always next week... :)
