Frugal Valentine's Container

It is that time of year when we are all baking for our sweethearts! The baking isn't so bad, but the packaging can get pretty costly. I made some treats the other day and went about the house looking for inspiration on packaging them frugally. I had emptied my oatmeal container when baking my cookies...so instead of tossing it I decided recycled it.

First I covered it with scrapbook paper. Then I added embellishments...ribbon, buttons, a cute tag! I just used materials that I already had in my craft room.

So, bake up some goodies for your sweetheart! Then dig through your craft supplies and make something cute to package them up!

Nice! Oatmeal containers would hold A LOT of goodies!

At Christmastime I used coffee cans.

I loved your idea, and I just took an old salt box out of my recycles (after reading the post) and decorated it with scrapbooking paper and ribbons, that had on hand. There is no lid, but I think I may use some tissue paper sticking up around the edges. It is really cute and took very little time! I am going to put some wrapped candy in it!
