How to Hard Boil Eggs

Hard boiling eggs? Sounds easy enough, doesn't it? Well, maybe I am the only one, but I have struggled to get them boiled just right. After all, nobody likes eggs that have that nasty green ring around them. Even worse...undercooked yolks. Yuck!

After much frustration I discovered this method. I think my problem before was that I didn't use a timer after they came to a boil. I just winged it...and failed more times than not. Hey, I never claimed to be a quick learner!

Here is how I hard boil my eggs-

Place eggs in a saucepan. Cover with cold water 1 inch above eggs. Bring to a boil. Once eggs come to a boil take them off the heat. Cover and let sit for 15 minutes. Drain and cover in ice water until cool. Store in refrigerator.

The picture is a sneak peak of what's to come tomorrow! Make sure you check back!

I love hard boiled eggs in my salad.

I've been cooking for too many years to count and I still have to get out my Better Homes and Gardens cook book to make sure I'm making my hard boiled eggs correctly!

I continue to realize how ignorant I am in the kitchen. Boil an egg??

I just boil the snot out of them and hope I get a couple that aren't cracked! :)

Agreed, this is the greatest way to cook an egg.

And for eggs that are easy to peel, use ones that are a week or older. Fresh ones haven't separated from the membrane very much yet.
