I didn't really go over since I skipped last week.
I did a quick look over the cart and guessed that I had spent right at $40. Ouch...I was off!
Just proves my grocery motto to be true...
You always spend more than you think you are going to...
So...add it up as you put it in cart and ALWAYS take cash!!!
Here we are in October already. I guess I should share my September totals!
I spent at total of $145 for the month. So, I put $15 into the cow fund!
The cow fund is up to $382.93, saved from grocery budget (1/10-9/10).

GREAT job on your cow fund!! I totally attempt to avoid the grocery at he end of the day....tired shopping is never a formula for success. Looks like you are still doing very well :)
Blessings!

Gail,
Yes, grocery shopping and being tired is a bad idea...
Thanks for the encouragement...the fund is climbing slowly but surely!
I am impressed with how much is in your cow fund! Great job! I always spend to much at the grocery store when I am stressed out or in a hurry!
....or...HUNGRY!!!!
I think you did great anyway Kate....considering you had leftover money from the previous week!!!!
20mi....WAY TO GO!!!! I could barely do 2 on vacation!!!! I learned one thing tho....I HATE hills!!!!
Cherie,
I don't like the hills either. I love riding though. We haven't been able to go to the bike trail all fall becuase of soccer, so I have been riding at the gym.
I am training for a 50 mile ride...I think it may take a while to get there...
How much cow are you planning on buying and how much do you plan to spend? I am looking into it I am just not sure how much I need and how much to put back for it.
Michele,
We buy 1/4 cow, so we split a whole cow with 3 other families. That worked out really well for us...we still have been to use.
I believe (don't quote me) that our 1/4 last yr was about $400. I think it totaled around 125 pounds once it was packaged.
As far as cuts, we got 1/3 hamburger, 1/3 steaks, and 1/3 roasts.
So, it wasn't the cheapest meat, I would estimate it avgd $3 0r $3.50 a pound. BUT, it was much higher quality of meat. AND, when you factor in the steaks (which are over $5/lb normally) I think it was WELL worth it.
When we get ours this year I will write up a post with more info and a better price listing!
