The menu this week is going to be very, very simple. As much as I hate to haul out the food I just froze, I think this is the perfect week to do it. The majority of the week is going to be spent on the house!
When we bought our house there was one major disaster that needed to be taken care of.
A wall papered bedroom. Not just any wall paper. Wall paper that is made up of crocodiles on skateboards with polka dots. Yes, I know, absolutely horrible. They didn't use sizing so I have not been able to get it off.
No, in case you are wondering, we didn't just move in, the crocs have been hidden behind the door for some time now. I just want to move our guest bedroom in there. You see, with only 2 people in a 4 bedroom house it was very easy to just shut the door of that little crocodile problem. Wish me luck as I am going to battle with the crocodiles this week. After many attempts I am going to tear those suckers down!
And by the way, I hate crocodiles or alligators or whatever they are. I also hate skateboards and primary colors. What were the people thinking when they put that junk up? When we have kids, mark my words, they will never have a primary colored, wall papered room...NEVER!

Monday- Taco Soup
Tuesday- Orange Teriyaki Chicken, Cauliflower and Peas
Wednesday- Taco Salad
Thursday- Steak, Sweet Potato, and Broccoli
Friday- Out to Eat
Saturday- Out to Eat
Sunday- Salsa Beef over Brown Rice

You will really feel like you accomplished something once you get the old wallpaper down! It is a chore, especially if they didn't use sizing, but it can be done. The key is to not try and pull it down dry. A little prep will make the job a a lot easier! There is a tool you can buy at most paint departments...it is to score the paper..put holes in it. Once you score it you can use Dep..a product especially made to soften wall paper...or...a cheaper version....I use a spray bottle of warm water mixed with a little Downey Fabric softener. Put rolled up towels on the floor against the baseboards to catch the dripping water, spray the paper and wait a few minutes and try to remove it. If it leaves backing on the wall when you pull it off, just spray it some more and it should soften and come right off. Work on one area at a time. If you spray too far ahead, it will start to dry before you get to it. I found a new shape edged silicone spatula makes a good scraper and won't gouge the walls. It will make quite a mess but what remodel job doesn't make a mess! Once you get all the paper down you will need to wash the walls to get any residual glue off before you paint. By the time you finish, you will Never want to put paper any wall again!
Do you remember the paper Doll stencils in your room when you were little!? (I loved them!) That was a lot easier to paint over, especially when someone drew clothes on the dolls! I am so happy you are having so much fun caring for a home of your own! Good luck with the paper removal!

If the wallpaper is ceiling to floor...you squirting hand gets REALLY tired tho!!! LOL
On the other hand...no pun intended!!!....your work environment SMELLS SOOOO good!!!!

I will have to ask mom about the doll stencils. I kind of remember that...but not totally!

@ Misty- You will have to come over and see it when it is done. The salsa beef is in one of the don't panic books. It is awesome and is great over rice because it has so much flavor. I also use it for tacos or enchiladas.
@ Cherie- Ok, so never say never is nice...but I HOPE I am never dumb enough to put something like that on my walls :)
