12 Days of Christmas "Cookie Style"-Sugar

Sugar Cookies

I use this sugar cookie recipe because the cookies hold their shape. I can use intricate cookie cutters, and don't have to worry about them spreading. The recipe is actually called "no fail" sugar cookies, so they are easy!

5 1/2 -6 cups flour
3 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Mix dry ingredients and add a little at a time to the butter mixture. Mix until flour is completely incorporated and the dough comes together. Chill for 1-2 hours. Roll to desired thickness and cut into desired shapes. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until edges are just turning light brown. Makes up to 5 dozen-3inch cookies. Decorate with your favorite icing!
