Caring For Your Garden

Last week I began a short series about gardening, gardening God's way! I want to continue on for a few weeks...

Weeding

This week I had to go through and weed out my flower beds. My goodness, those weeds can get out of control very quickly. I went on my hands and knees and pulled them out one by one. While it was not very much fun, it needed to be done. Once I was finished I looked around at all my pretty flower beds and instead of noticing the pesky weeds I saw my beautiful plants. My eyes could fix on my plants new growth and flower buds about to bloom.

I began to realize that weeds can take control of our spiritual garden, if neglected. It is so important to take daily inventory of our hearts and make sure that the weeds of anger, jealousy, selfishness, and bitterness aren't being fostered.

I am reminded of Psalm 139:23-24, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Let us search our hearts daily and rid ourselves of these "weeds" before they start spreading and taking over our garden!

I missed church service today because of my sick baby so it is SO nice to have a little "faith of a foodie" to chew on... I am LOVING this gardening series and can't wait for next Sunday! :) Thanks so much!

We think a lot alike, Katie.
Everytime I weed, I think of sin in my life that needs to be plucked out and how it takes nutrients from the real plant trying to grow.

Good stuff!

AMEN! I love this series. Maybe because I have been working so much in my garden.
