Storing Nuts

Almonds, pecans, walnuts...I love to keep a variety of nuts on hand. While we use them a lot in salads and for snacking, they don't keep that long in the pantry.

Here are some guidelines I have found for storing nuts:

Pantry: 3 months

Refrigerator: 6 months

Freezer: 12 months

Storing nuts in the freezer seems like the best thing to do. Now I won't feel bad about buying a variety and keeping them on hand!

Do you store your nuts in the pantry, fridge, or freezer?

My nuts are stored within their rooms!! Oh you mean the other nuts. I have just started to buy more nuts since hubby & I love them and have wondered what's the best way to keep them. Thanks!!

Pantry ... we use them so fast they never have a chance to go bad. We make fresh salads for lunch 4 or 5 days a week and always sprinkle them with either sliced almonds or walnut pieces. Or I add a handful to a batch of brownies. Okay, now I'm hungry!

I didn't realize there was a shelf life for nuts. My family eats a lot of them, and honestly none hang around for more than a few weeks.

I always store mine in the freezer. I never have to think about how long I have had them. They are so expensive I hate to waste them.
