Menu Plan Monday

My menu plan didn't really go as planned this past week. I just moved the missed meals on to this week! Most are in the freezer so it is easy to switch them around!

This week a friend and I were talking about menu planning. Basically the conversation was about how everyone plans differently. I know some plan for each week. Some plan for the week and don't assign days. Others find bi-weekly or monthly works best for them. Then there are the women who think menu planning at all is kind of a crazy thing :)

I tend to do divided all of my freezer meals up for the month on paper. Then I have two meals or so already planned. I do it so that two months don't go by and I haven't used any of my freezer meals!

Chicken Broccoli Stuffed Shells (freezer), Veggies, Applesauce
Meatloaf, Sweet Potatoes, Salad
Beef Cabbage Soup (freezer), Homemade Bread
Pot Roast, Veggies, Salad
Spaghetti with Smoked Sausage, Salad, Homemade Bread

I thought it would be fun to hear how everyone menu plans!

Have you learned any helpful tips along the way?

I am a bi-weekly planner. I get my grocery money out when we get paid.

I write my menu monthly at the beginning of each month and then highlight when I make a meal... I also "update" the menu weekly based on our schedules, changing things around if need be.

It has been working out well for me, but would REALLY like to incorporate more of a freezer cooking day each month and utilize the meals that way.

I plan weekly and I start with all the kids activities to see what nights we need quick meals, we are eating late, etc. Then I fill in with more elaborate meals for the days I have more time to cook. I keep a lot of full meals and meal starters in the freezer to make planning easier.

I plan week to week. That way I can incorporate leftovers and what's on sale in the grocery ads. I plan easier meals or leftovers on busy nights and cook a little bit extra on slower nights for lunches or quick dinners.
