I will admit, the idea seemed a little beneath me...microwaveable dessert? I am supposed to bring forth fabulous desserts that take a lot of time, but on my search for apple recipes I decided to try it.
After my delicious apple experience I was left with the following questions...
How can such a wonderful dessert be made in the microwave?
How can such a sinfully delicious dessert be remotely healthy?
This is so simple, you have got to try it...you won't be sorry!!!
1 apple
1 teaspoon butter
2 teaspoons brown sugar
sprinkle of cinnamon
3-4 pecans, crushed
Core apple, leaving a little bit in the bottom. Place apple in a microwaveable dish. Place butter, pecans, and brown sugar inside apple. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Microwave until tender...about 2-2 1/2 minutes. Let cool a little...it will be really hot inside. Pour the juice over the apple. Enjoy!

I love making baked apples but I have never microwaved them. Thanks for sharing your recipe as it will be great if I am short of time. I also like that you added pecans - I have not done that before and it sounds delicious!
AHA....is this a "mamaw" recipe???/
she told me about this...like...last year....they are YUMMY!!!
Makes me want one for breakfast this morning!!!!
Hmmm...add a little granola and a scoop of ice cream.....MMMMMMM!!!
April,
I normally do them in the oven too, but this was so easy. I loved it because I just made one for myself...and I normally wouldn't hassle with the oven for just myself!
Pecans are a must...but I am jsut a crunchy kind of girl!
Cherie,
Yes!! Mamaw did tell me aobut how wonderful this is, but I couldn't remember exactly how she did it. So, my recipe may be slightly different...I will have to ask her about it.
OR...maybe you could show her how to comment!!
I forgot Cherie!
GRANOLA...YES! Man, that granola really comes in handy, doesn't it! I am eating it in an cinnamon apple parfait as we speak. LOL
Ooohhh, Yummy! I have never heard of baked apples... Am I weird? I mean I know restaurants serve the warm cinnamon apples... but this looks SO yummy!
Can I ask, how you all prepare the ones in the oven? I would like to know so I can make 6 at a time :)
Please share the recipe...
Misty,
I can't believe you have never heard of them. It is a healthy version of an apple dumpling.
When I have made them in the oven I prepare them the same way. Preheat oven to 325 and put apples in a dish (with sides) and pour about a cup of apple juice around the apples. Bake til tender, maybe 45-60 minutes!
So, I made these the other night for the kids (yes, the kids... only had 3 apples left) and they LOVED them!!! First time they have never complained about the skin on the apple... These were SO yummy... (Yeah, mom and dad snuck a taste, shhhh, don't tell)
The only thing is that it was hard to core with a paring knife... any suggestions???
